All Sports Booster Club donates $9,000 to SCS
Athletics
School sports and athletics provide benefits
beyond physical fitness. Students build self-confidence and school
pride, learn teamwork, develop problem-solving skills, learn positive
personal habits, and form friendships with their peers. And they have
fun, too. Their families and the larger community benefit as well.
On July 12, All Sports Booster Club President Ann
Bevins and Past President and Coordinator of Fund Raising Barb Sharpe
presented a generous, $9,000 donation to the Schoharie Central School
Board of Education to enable the district to continue offering several
Junior Varsity sports and Varsity cheerleading, activities that had to
be cut from the school budget.

Boys Varsity Basketball Team Collects Donations for
the Regional Food Bank
The Boys Varsity Basketball Team did a wonderful
job collecting food and money for the Regional Food Bank at a recent
Siena basketball game. They collected 688 pounds of food and $1,010
by selling raffle tickets for prizes donated by Siena. Students had
to ask fans, as they were entering the arena, if they would like to
buy raffle tickets to benefit the Food Bank. It's not an easy thing
for a lot of people to do, but they were very professional, polite,
active, and effective. $1,010 is a lot of money to raise in one
hour! They also helped pack up the food, loaded it into a vehicle
for transport, and unloaded it at the Food Bank. The students were
also able to enjoy the game, which made for a fun night. Many of
these students have been helping with this annual event since they
were in 7th Grade. In fact, it is a point of pride for them to see
how much money they can raise. We here at SCS are very proud of them
for their dedication to the cause. Participants included: Eric
Croote, Chris Kelley, Tim Beninati, Pete Quandt, Cody LaBadia, Aaron
Scofield, Brendan Archer, TJ Smith, Craig Stalker, and Skyler
Scavone.
